Lawn care and landscaping in Scranton, PA

Home base for Rivera's. Mowing, beds, walls, cleanups and snow removal for Scranton homes and businesses.

Scranton is where Rivera's Lawn Care & Landscaping is based. Owner Doroteo Rivera and his crew are Scranton-area neighbors. We take care of front yards on tight city lots, bigger properties on the edges of town, and commercial lots that need to look sharp for customers.

One crew handles the whole year: mowing and trimming in summer, cleanups in spring and fall, and plowing and shoveling once the snow comes in.

Hills, small lots and freeze-thaw winters

A lot of Scranton is built on hillsides. Sloped front yards, steps up from the sidewalk and short walls holding back soil are everywhere, and those walls take a beating from our freeze and thaw cycles. When an old wall starts leaning or a slope keeps washing out, a properly based retaining wall or a regraded yard fixes the problem for good.

City lots are often small and close together, with narrow side yards and older trees. Mowing them well means a trim mower, careful edging along walks and fences, and blowing every clipping off the sidewalk before we leave.

Winter is the other big season here. Driveways on a grade and steep walkways get dangerous fast after a storm, so we plow, shovel and clear walks for homes and businesses on seasonal contracts or per storm.

Spring is when city yards need the most help. Winter plowing pushes salt, sand and grit onto the edges of lawns along driveways and sidewalks, and those strips often come in thin. A spring cleanup clears the debris, and topsoil and seed along the worst edges bring the grass back before the summer mowing season starts. Estimates are free, and we are glad to talk it through in English or Spanish.
